“What is it like, not knowing what comes next?”

hello! this is a place to talk about my fic ours for the moment. Thank you to everyone who has shown so much love and enthusiasm. Hearing your ideas make the story more alive for me as well <3

A lot of readers have mentioned that they would love to talk to someone, to share theories or just to yell and have someone yell back haha. So I want to use this space to connect people to people and spark conversations.

I won’t be taking part in this, and I’m muting notifications so feel free to go wild!!!

polite reminder

  1. stay respectful, even if you disagree I find that you can have juicier chats when you ask someone why they think a particular way, rather than rejecting an idea outright.
  2. please don’t quote what I’ve said in DMs, you can mention the ideas if you link back to the story, but I don’t want “hwa said XYZ” to be used as law. Comment replies are fine!
  3. I trust you <3 I’ve heard some brilliant ideas and theories and I want other people to be as excited about it as I was.

Okay I'm throwing out my Happy Ending Future Theory (TM) in case anyone would like to agree, disagree, add on, etc!
So after SC makes a personal sacrifice (cue Hanged Man tarot imagery) and erases himself from JH's life to protect him, SC succeeds in his quest to take down the big baddies. But it takes a while, let's say a few years, and afterwards he's no longer safe in SK. It's recommended that he flee the country before some other resentful chaebol tied up in the financial drama can enact revenge. Free of commitments, he goes to Japan and tracks down JH who is off eating the best meal of his life. He does not run into JH by accident, it is A Choice (cue the Lovers tarot imagery) as he's running on nothing but fumes of love and detective skills baby~!
I'm choosing to believe JH lied in the very last scene about not recognizing SC, in an effort not to trap him. JH is holding the sheets in that scene which could be an indication he's lying!
I also like the idea of SC tracking down JH and not telling him about their past together at all, for both of their safety. At that point, since JH has forgotten their initial relationship, it will seem like he's waiting for a future in which a man appears in his life who already knows everything about him and how he likes to be a loved from day 1--a reversal of their first time around and a more even playing field. Cue the long, happy overlap in time where they can know/love each other almost equally for many years. :))

I really love the ending you thought of!! It's probably the happiest ending this story can have hahaha anyway here's my two cents. I don't mean to come off as mean or harsh so I apologize if I do hehe
“No, this is the last time,” Jeonghan says, “Every time is the last time. And when you go, I would have forgotten everything that has happened.”
I don't think they ever meet again. Seungcheol and Wonwoo's conversation made it seem like complying is the only thing to do because it's one man vs an entire system which has been established and thriving for years. Even if it's not exactly one man vs an entire system, it is still lopsided. I think he works to uproot the system for as long as he can before he either flees or dies. I don't see him fleeing really, so ;-;
Also,
“You still see him,” Jihoon finally states, “After all these years?”
Has Jeonghan had the best meal of his life already if it's been a few years since they've met?
/Surrender to circumstance/ summarizes what I think happens pretty well. Jeonghan doesn't remember, he could've been lying about having too much to drink? Seungcheol chooses to work against the corrupt system /martyrdom/, can erasing himself from Jeonghan's life be seen as something he felt mandated to do by the circumstances created by his choice? If he dies doing this, if he never comes back to Jeonghan, isn't all that in a way surrender to circumstance? The system is not going to be uprooted in a day, they're more powerful than he is. Are all his sacrifices and a life of uncertainty and danger ultimately /futile/? I choose to believe that the upright Hanged Man applies to the fic and reversed applies to what I think happens after hmmm

This part threw me off too. I was kind of unsure of the time they'd spent together and if that meant that the Japan trip already happened and if not, how far into the future it happens. Also Jihoon not /knowing/ how deep SC/JH relationship went despite Jihoon being so close to Han threw me off too. Why do you think Han told Jihoon to stay away? Was it to try and ease the pain of knowing he was about to lose him? Do you think Han tried to save him?

Honestly I was puzzling over why he told Jihoon to stay away too. If I knew someone I was close to was going to die, wouldn't I want to do something to stop it even if I knew nothing can/should be done? I think it was to stop himself from interfering with the future in a way? Jeonghan doesn't want to take away free will, but knowing that your friend will die and the day's coming closer- that has to be very distressing because on one hand, his friend's going to die and he knows, on the other he cannot do anything about it and even if he wants to try, --> him not wanting to force other people. When I put myself in Jeonghan's shoes (or try to- I'm never able to see from a character's perspective without taking myself out of it so it's coloured by how I would have felt instead of how the character would have) him pushing Jihoon away makes sense from an emotional point of view. It's a lot to deal with.
“That it’s dangerous to know too much about the future,"
I also see this as a way to lessen his guilt. What if something he told Jihoon would be the very thing that gets him killed? He's going to die and Jeonghan cannot change that, but what if he's the cause of it, even though he doesn't mean to? So he asks Jihoon to not come back, lest one of his 'predictions' be the one piece of information that leads him to his death.
